CDM CONSULTANTS IN BRACKNELL, READING AND THE SOUTH OF ENGLAND | RIDDOR REPORTING

Accidents and unexpected incidents can occur on any project but what truly matters is how they are managed afterwards. In recent months, our CDM consultants have witnessed situations where external parties have attempted to influence how workplace incidents were reported, and how injuries were documented. This has raised some key concerns.

M.L.A. helps clients in the following areas to comply with RIDDOR:

Basingstoke | Bracknell | Guildford | Reading | Tunbridge Wells

Our CDM consultants also cover all surrounding counties and the UK.

We understand that clients may feel some pressure if faced with such circumstances. However, a reportable accident must be recognised and dealt with accordingly. It is also important to remember someone may have been harmed. This makes prevention, transparency and education from such events the healthiest, and the most constructive approach.

M.L.A. is here to guide and support you through the process.

WHY IS THIS IMPORTANT?

  • Recording: Logging incidents is more than a legal requirement, and helps to identify repeating hazards and unsafe practices
  • Reporting: Your legal duty dictates that the right actions are taken, including notification to authorities when necessary.
  • Investigation: Establishing the cause prevents occurrences and improves workplace safety while strengthening site conditions.
  • Insurance: Insurers must be informed. Future claims may arise. Failure to report properly could leave your business exposed.

A REFRESHER ON RIDDOR REQUIREMENTS

Due to RIDDOR, which covers the Reporting of Injuries, Diseases and Dangerous Occurrences Regulations 2013, certain incidents should be reported directly to the UK’s Health and Safety Executive (HSE).

  • Amputations of limbs, hands, feet or digits
  • Permanent or partial loss of vision
  • Crush injuries to the torso or head

  • Burns or scalds to over 10% of the body
  • Burns or scalds to eyes, lungs or vital organs
  • Scalping injuries requiring hospital treatment
  • Loss of consciousness from head trauma or asphyxiation

RIDDOR also covers Injuries sustained in confined spaces that result in hypothermia, heat-related illness, unconsciousness, resuscitation and all incidents leading to hospital admission exceeding 24 hours.

Extended Absences

  • An injury that prevents an employee from fulfilling job duties for more than 7 consecutive days

Dangerous Occurrences

  • Near-miss events that could have caused serious harm

Occupational Diseases

  • Conditions like carpal tunnel syndrome or hand–arm vibrations, formally diagnosed by a medical professional.

Non-Employee Injuries
